10 Things to Do in Radda in Chianti

The 10 best things to do in Radda in Chianti, Tuscany, Italy!

Radda in Chianti is the heart and soul of the Chianti area in Southeast Tuscany, with just 1,461 inhabitants.  This is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy Tuscany, Italy.

While the area has been inhabited since 2000 years before Christ, you won’t find the endless museums of a city like Florence, Italy; however, you will find the church, local shops, and village streets charming.  You will also find a revitalizing way of life.

We scoped and scoured the town to provide a list of the 10 best things to do in Radda in Chianti in Italy.

10. Sunrise at the black rooster along the main road.  You can read about the legend of the black rooster here, the symbol of the area found on every bottle of Chianti Classico.  The big black rooster is on the main road on the edge of town, overlooking the valley between the town and the surrounding hills.

9. Early morning coffee at Bar Dante. Be sure to tell Alessio and Carolyn that I say hello. You might want to return in the evening for dinner and a glass of wine from their extensive wine cellar.

8.  Morning walk on the ring trail near town, and perhaps getting lost.  It is a beautiful 13 km walk.  Stop at Casa Porciatti dal 1965 for picnic supplies.

7.   Mid-morning coffee at and a pastry at Pasticceria Sampoli & Lapis.

6.  Day trip to Castellina in Chianti, perhaps with lunch at Antica Trattoria La Torre.  This restaurant has been around for decades for a reason.  Delicious.

5. Day trip to Panzano.  After visiting Dario Cecchini, the famous butcher, have lunch on the terrace at Il Vescovovino.  After walking about town, you earned a gelato at Bar Pasticceria Sieni.

4. Castle and Winery Tour at Castello di Albola.  See our recent blog for more on this.  Go for the wine, stay for the food.  Make a reservation.

3. Wine Tasting at Family Run Winery, Le Fraschette.  See our recent blog for more on this.  Call ahead to schedule.

2. Sunset Drinks on the Balcony of the Bar at Relais Vignale.  Step back in time, and relax.

1. Dinner at La Loggia del Chianti.  Sit down and buckle up for an amazing meal.  Of course the food and wine are outstanding, but the family that runs the place will have your feeling like you are part of their family.
